If you haven't been paying attention, the iPod has been launching the Mac OS into a considerable market share and with the popularity of open source software, Linux is on the serious rise. So, your statement "whether we like it or not, there are, and probably always will be....more user of Windows machines than....Linux machines" is just inaccurate. The sun is setting on Microsoft, and it won't be long before the rest of <em>your</em> family starts using Linux/UNIX on a regular basis. Spend your time focusing on what brings you the most return for your investment, but don't forget who scratches your back without any thought of themselves. Sure they will release the software for the Linux/UNIX paltform, it is just taking too long, that's all. Oh believe me. I understand the popularity of Google. And because families use Windows more than Linux (i.e. Linux users tend to be single males (or at least their Linux machines are only used by them, with a more friendly Windows box for the rest of their family)), that means that for each Windows machine, there are probably twice as many users. Do the math. Google, for all of its kindness to the open source community, is still a business and if they hope to take over the world they have to focus their efforts (read: time & money) on something that will give the greatest return. Eventually, I am certain they will release code for Unix and Linux, but it may take some time.
