Well, I can assure you that you're not alone. I had this problem all the time when I ran Windows. But on Linux, I can even perform system upgrades while burning CD's and they turn out perfect.

Not so with Windows. Makes me glad I'm on Linux now.

What software are you using? I use nero or alcohol to burn cd's in windows generally. I have had more problems burning in Linux recently. Never had a problem in windows since XP.

Yesterday, I burnt a dvd while watching an avi I had downloaded. No problems with the burn. I generally surf the internet while burning as well with no issues.

You just seem to have the hardest time using Windows. I burn ISOs all the time in Windows and haven't had an under/over run in years (circa Windows 98).
I use <a href="http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm" rel="nofollow">Alex Feinman's</a> simple cd burner it is very nice.
