There are more things to consider than just mysql vs. postgresql. Can you get the same functionality in MT as you have with your current WP plugins? How hard is it to get your current theme working in MT?

Unless you mean: “It is history of proprietary enterprise . . .”, in which case you may have bigger problems, that “it’s” should be an “its”. “its” is the possessive form.

@Hub- Yeah. It looks like the beta isn’t Free Software… yet. When version 4 is officially released, it will be GPL code. Until then, I definitely won’t be making the switch.

Back to MT4, apparently it is not yet Free Software… Let’s wait and see.

@Hub- Never heard of it. However, I’m only concerned about WordPress and Movable Type. I am aware that there are plenty of other options out there.

@Jason- Movable Type supports OpenID out of the box? That makes it even more tempting.

@Pharo- I’ve never had to deal with the security issues with WordPress, but I have heard that they have been a problem for others. Any idea how the Movable Type security stacks up?

I’ll definitely make the switch. I’m just sick of the security problems with wordpress and looked for some alternatives. I don’t rally like pybloxsom and s9y and the fact, that mt uses perl is IMHO a +.
I started to evaluate it after the beta release and I’m really impressed how fast and easy it works and how powerfull the plugins are.

MT’s CGIs and such annoyed me to no end.

Unless MT4 is a radical departure from their history, I still see no reason to use it personally. (I suppose I should read details, changelogs, etc.).

A shame though, native OpenID support is mouth watering.
