@W- The feeds exist so others can syndicate the content, and get the latest news as it is published to them. Using Liferea in an Internet cafe would not be breaking the license, unless you were selling the content.

@Luke- I want people to link back to me. That is one of the great features of blogging. It creates communities, shares ideas, and sparks momentum. Linking back to the originating content, even with ads in the sit, is perfectly appropriate. What is not appropriate, is selling the content of the author if the author does not allow it. Please keep the link up.

@Tony Yarusso- I am concerned about it, and there are means and ways in which I can syndicate my content to planets, and still keep the license of the site maintained. Planet Ubuntu is not breaking the license of my site. People who put Planet Ubuntu in their feed readers, even if the reader is commercial, are not breaking the license of this site. Only those who are republishing and selling my content for financial gain without prior written consent from me are breaking the license as outlined.

Now, if you were actually concerned about your content being duplicated in places other than your site, you wouldn't syndicate yourself on Planet Ubuntu, which not only IS an aggregator in itself, but is the RSS feed source that all of the other ones you seem to take issue with are using. As I see you are using WordPress for your site, I know that you have the means of both making sure that only posts you wish to be syndicated and replicated around the world show up on Planet Ubuntu, as well as enforcing access restrictions to the other site content as you see fit. Please do so rather than expecting the entire internet to make up for your own decision to encourage duplication of your content via self-subscribed aggregators.

Hey, Aaron - I linked to you few days ago in an article on apt. I hope you are ok with that. I do use adsense on my blog, and the wording of your license is bit confusing.

Let me know if you want to take down the link. :)

Btw, I feel the same way about splogs, but I do not mind being linked to by sites that do turn profit. This is what makes the web go around - these links give you Google PR and new traffic. But if you feel adamant about not getting linked from anyone who uses adsense to pay their hosting bill I will take the link down.

So if I had an Internet cafe where the computers have Liferea installed, I'd break the license of your blog by leaving Planet Ubuntu in the Liferea feeds, right? Since I'd use your work as part of a commercial purpose, contrary to what BY-NC-SA seems to allow.

Also, may I use web-based feed readers to read your blog? Most of these feed readers exist for coomercial purposes, and they would use your work for it.

Do you have any examples of these 'splog' sites? More for curiosities sake than anything - it'd be interesting to see what such sites look like (If that makes sense..)
