About your unstable woes... I have the same situation as you. I often times want a package from unstable, but I do _not_ want to run unstable. Here's how I do it. Include unstable in your sources (I even do this with ubuntu, btw) and then edit your /etc/apt/preferences. Put in that file the following

Package: *
Pin: release a=unstable, o=Debian
Pin-Priority: 301

That will keep automatic installs or upgrades from _ever_ coming from unstable. The only way to get an unstable package is to explicitly ask for it.

Well Kevin beat me to it, but yes Foresight is no longer just a Gnome distribution, we also have a KDE 3.5, KDE 4.0, and an Xfce rollout for the fl:2-devel release due out in the next few months.

aaron: I hope you try out foresight and really like it. I again want to thank you for all the kind words about foresight. If you run into any problems or just want to find out about the community join us in #foresight on irc.freenode.net

wolfger: I think that conary is better than portage but I might be a little biased. I used to run Gentoo and then I found out about foresight and haven't looked back since. In regards to kde we are currently working on FL2 which will include KDE and XFCE. It is currently in its alpha state but that is something to keep an eye out for.

Interesting. Conary sounds like it might be as good as Gentoo's Portage. That would be a nifty thing indeed. I'd try Foresight out tonight, if only it used KDE... :-P

Thanks for the comments on Foresight! Once you try it, if you have any questions stop by #foresight on Freenode IRC and let us know.

Gabriel: You could say we're the first desktop distro with Conary. ;)

there is an old saying don't run Debian unstable if you can't fix it. I agree that this Intel driver xorg bug is pretty bad.

use aptitude to downgrade a bunch of packages from unstable to testing. Even if officially not supported it works out pretty good. You can choose which installed version you want.

"Foresight is the first distribution to introduce the superior Conary package manager."

It can't be the first if it's based on rPath :) Anyway, conary is cool stuff and I hope that it takes off.

Interesting. I've looked at opensolaris and haiku, but foresight is new to me. I think I'll try it out.

Aside: could you increase the line height of your paragraphs to make them easier to read?
