That's right - a feature request!
Provide ways to easily turn the script on and off, like a Gnome and/or KDE panel applet.  I suppose you _could_ accomplish this with basic launchers (one for the script, one for a 'kill' command), but that seems a bit awkward (for needing two buttons instead of one, and for using kill).
The best way would be if there was some kind of hook deal, where it ran somewhat like a daemon that could be started and stopped by additional command (desktopcam --pause, desktopcam --resume) that would allow those actions to also be called from cron or any other script.</description>
