I am actually surprised that I haven't blogged about this before. On my previous blog before PThree, I think I did. I hope I did. This is just one of those things that you don't want to pass up. At any event...
For those of you unaware, there is a free Linux magazine subscription. Tux Magazine, is a sister project from Linux Journal. Tux Magazine is 100% completely free, without credit card info or any of that crap. Just click on the subscription, enter an email address you want it delivered to, and a password, and you're done. Yes, it is a full-blown magazine, not a newsletter. It is complete with full color graphics, editorials, columns, articles, index, advertisements, the works. Some issues are up to 80 pages while others are a thin 20.
All of the issues are targeted towards the new and intermediate Linux user. This means all you noobs will finally have a Linux magazine that you can understand and appreciate. For the 1337, there are articles that may even have your interest peaked. All of the issues are in PDF format and they are released every month (although, they did miss two months since March 2005).
For a review, this is a magazine that is trully unique. I have subscribed since day 1 when first released, and have enjoyed every issue. The editorial column, however, I could so without, as well as the Mango Parfait column. Other than that, I love it. The articles are easy to read and understand. The magaine is well laid out, and the screenshots that accompany most every article are clean and helpful. This really is a good magazine.
The best part, however, is the fact that it is in PDF format. I can take the magazine with me where ever I go. Because it is delivered to me via email, all I need is an Internet connection, and access to my email, and I'm set. Or, putting all the issues on my thumb drive works too. My PDA can also read them just fine.
All-in-all, if you're not subscribed, do so here. Again, it is a good magainze, and completely free. Honestly, no one is above any of the articles written. Currently, they are on issue 12. Getting the previous issues is easy after you are subscribed.
