Don’t use the group tag and the hashtag for the same word in a single post. You only need to use the tag once. Using the group tag again or using a hashtag on the some word as the group tag doesn’t provide any extra functionality. When people navigate their browsers to, or click on the hashtag “#foo”, they will see “foo” group tags and hashtags. So, having it once in your post will reveal it to that query. Any additional tagging on the same word in the same post is just silly."

Maybe has changed since you posted this. It's just not true that when I nagivate to I see all usages of #foo and !foo. The group-tagged things are not included.

Makes it difficult to follow a topic, have to read both tag/foo and group/foo separately to get everything everyone is saying.

You're sending a message to millions of people when you use a group address. Do you really need to when you RT or send your off-topic message?
