The use of color makes sense where very large amounts of data can be made to fit into a smaller space than the current breed of monochrome bar and dot codes can achieve. For the same overall surface area, a color dot code could conceivably hold four or more times as much data as a monochrome one having the same overall dot count and grid size. Just a shame that Microsoft wants to make you "license", for an exorbitant fee, the source code and specs for this cool format.
