After a reboot, it's still present, and tethering/hotspot works fine.

The build.prop editor seems to add the property but closing and re-opening the editor does not show it and it is not there after reboot. This is probably related to the /system space issue described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64208563&postcount=3393
